Cryptid File 001A - The Loch Ness Monster aka "Nessie"

Location: Loch Ness, Scotland.

Type: Lake Monster

Evidence: Sightings, Photos, Sonar Readings

Tempermant: Believed to be amicable

My thoughts and theories: I believe in the Loch Ness monster, I think it could be possible for something to be down there. If the coelacanth can survive for over 65 million years, can't something bigger? I believe that if it is a plesiosaur (referring to the entire genus and not just the one species) it has adapted to having it's nostrils on top of it's head, much like Brachiosaurus was believed to have for some time. This could account for the lack of sightings of the creatures surfacing to breath as skeptics note. This picture depicts the monster as a icthyovore and feasting primarily on eels and fish. My second thought on feeding are that it has developed a method of filter feeding as Cryptoclidus (HA! Word play lol) is believed to.

There are many explanations for what the creature is. From the oridinay oversized fish, giant eels, to the far out Tullimonstrum gregarium an ancient invertabrate. But, there is no evidence to really support any of these. But still they are worthy of consideration, for any of the three would still be great find. Not a great as a surviving aquatic reptile, but still great in thier own right.

Even though the most famous photgraph of Nessie has since been found to be a hoax, many other photos and sightings are unnacounted for. Of course, not all sightings are true, alot are most likely the miss identifications of waves, fish, logs, and other things. But for those that lack an explanation, only few answers can suffice. Nessie is believed to be a gentle creature, as I have never heard of Nessie attacking a human being. Large blips have been registered on numerous sonar readings taken on the lake. But these are always written off as inconclusive.

One question that plagues many a believers mind is "How did it get there?", I don't believe we will have the answer anytime soon but we can have theories. I have not yet heard a theory that I believe is plausible enough to be possibly valid. If there was a channel to the sea from the loch, wouldn't we be able to test for salinity? Unless its near somewhere water is contantly moving. Being trapped in the Loch due to an opening eventually closing up? I believe, since that process can take thousands of years they would have plenty of time to leave before that happens. Truth is, I really have yet to hear, nor come up with a thoery that will satisfy me on this matter, which is an important one. But, it could of been a type of migration, I mean whales travel for miles on end.

Where is the body? When was the last time you heard of a Blue Whale corpse washing up on the beach? If something so large narely washes up upon the shore then why would you expect something close to 20ft (rough guess, it might be smaller than that, who knows yet?) to wash up any time sooner? But this arguement is also used for many other cryptids, so this excuse must be tireing, so I digress. Unless you consider the probability that marine reptiles swallowed stones for bouancy.

Closing statement: I believe that it is possible for a monster to exist in the loch, it's peat stained surface and dark waters may hold more than our imaginations.

File End.

Hey, I liked the Godzilla series version, especially the idea that it returns to the Loch every 20 yrs to spawn. Even though it was a sea serpent (like Champ or Ogopogo should be) it was still pretty cool.

Best kaiju animated series ever. Except Megas XLR, I think it'd have to be a tie.
