Did this today while I was bored in economics class. I thought up a cute alien race of gelatinous creatures.

The Sarlikk are peaceful, sentient creatures of the planet Garren. They speak by constantly vibrating certain areas of their gelatin like body to make bird-like, cooing noises. But they have been able to imitate human languages after contact with this race was made. Sarlikks are completely harmless to humans, for they can only digest soft foods due to thier cell like bodies, for on thier planet many other creatures are as soft and gelatinous as they are and eat much like a cell overtaking another, this coupled with thier placid and peacful nature has made them great allies of the human race. Thier technology is pretty even with our own (if not, slighty more advanced) but they prefer to commune with nature and spend time in the wilderness rather than in thier cities filled with large skyscraper like structures and natural based power sources (solar, bio fuels, etc. etc.). The large "nucleus" inside the Sarlikk is the only vulnerable part on the entire being, that is.... If it's cell like wall can be penetrated, for it is thick enough to stop most bullets, it acts as both a heart and a brain, constantly beating, this structure can generate a new body if it remains intact and moist. Males have large tentacles extending out from thier back, while females have a set of large "spikes". Albeit the Sarlikk are not a violent race, they have engineered weapons that are much more effective than our own, due to a large explosion in the population of predators and an unsuccesful invasion on thier planet during earlier times in thier history. As such, Sarlikk warriors are trained for combat, yet they nuture thier peaceful sides, such that they don't let savagry take over thier nature.

Plus..... Ain't it cute?
